People often ask me, "How can you love Linux so much especially when there are only about 2% of Linux users worldwide as compared to around 90% Windows users?" I reply them with one of my favorite Linux quote "Why let Microsoft give you WINDOWS when Linux can give you a HOME?"
In fact, the answer lies in the question itself. I love it because once you are in love - no matter with whom or with what, you are bound to gain characteristics of a famous quote (though a bit cliche) LOVE IS BLIND. So there goes the first reason . . .
But whoever "Mr. Question" is, he has added stats to show how alone Linux is with only 2% worldwide usage! Well, that's the second reason and the stats clearly show it : LINUX MAKES ME FEEL SPECIAL. It wants me and I want it (You see! we both are not lonely anymore . . . )
Linux has been in use as a SERVER TECHNOLOGY for years and that was in fact, it's primary usage purpose. It is only now that it has started blooming as a Desktop Operating System since last few years. Fedora, Ubuntu and Mint (in my case) being the culprits (as windows users might think!). Linux history is like a BIG BUDGET BOLLYWOOD FILM. The only difference being that the later requires money - loads and loads of money while Linux is open source and yeah you've heard it before and you've heard it right : IT DOES MATTER!
To know more about Linux history and INTER-DISTRO-FIGHTS, I would recommend to GOOGLE THESE OUT : Linus Torvalds VS Andrew Tanenbaum and Ubuntu VS Fedora.
One of my colleague, Sagar Siddhapura (A proud Linux User and a writer at OC) has some interesting things to say! Give it a shot to have some insight into WHY LINUX?
Too much links in this post, isn't it? That's because I get a bit emotional while talking about my love - Linux :(
So, excuse me for not writing a long one this time around! And hey! You know something, See Linux The Way I See It And You Never Know, You Might As Well Fall In Love . . . ;-)
This is Hex 22 signing off with the promise of a come back!
